ABOUT
Jeda de Brí is an award winning director and writer for screen and stage.
She has over a decade of experience working in the Irish film and theatre industries.
Most recently she wrote and directed the Screen Ireland Focus Short Naked Lights, produced by Carbonated Comet, which had its world premier at the Galway Film Fleadh 2024 and was nominated for Best Short, Best Director and Best Cinematography at the Louth Film Festival. Naked Lights will screen next at the Oscar and BAFTA qualifying Foyle Film Festival and the London Irish Film Festival.
Her work has screened at international festivals including Newport Beach Film Festival & Leeds International Film Festival. Her writing is published by Oberon Books. She is currently developing feature films with Screen Ireland, Treasure Entertainment and Samson Films.
As a writer, she got to final round development in this year's RTÉ Storyland with her script, Cake.
She was also selected as part of the Screen Mentorship programme in collaboration with Screen Ireland and was mentored in 2023 by Director and Editor Emer Reynolds.
She wrote and directed the Screen Ireland funded short film Procession with 925 Productions (Best Short Bellingham Film Festival 2019, Official Selection Newport Beach Film Festival 2019, Galway Film Fleadh, 2018). Further film credits include Chimneys (Nominated: Louis le Prince Award, Leeds International Film Festival, Screened: RTÉ Shortscreen 2016) and Spacer (Nominated: Best Short, Fingal Film Fest, Screened: RTÉ Shortscreen 2017.) The Screen Ireland short Ghosted (Winner: Count Baisie Award, DICFF 2024, Fastnet Film Festival, 2024)
On stage, she has worked at The Abbey, The Gate, The Lyric and she has collaborated with Fishamble and Rough Magic. She was Artistic Director of Sickle Moon Productions for 8 years.
Most recently, she directed Marty Breen’s play BITCH and Megan and Shannon Haly’s Play CORTISOL for the Dublin Fringe Festival. BITCH was nominated for Best Production, Spirit of the Fringe, Best Performer and Best New Writing, it won Spirit of the Fringe and Best Performer. CORTISOL was nominated for the Solas Nua Award and went on to have a sold out run in the Cork Arts Theatre.
